Today, intellectual property strategies have already become a major key to business success. At a time when Japan is going through a troubled period with increasing competition from developing countries and from emerging countries like the so-called BRIC powers, companies are about to face a highly complex situation and can no longer afford to focus their intellectual property strategies solely on the industrialized nations.

The law firm Kuzuwa & Partners is dedicated to providing a comprehensive service from the acquisition and management of intellectual property rights to the litigation stage for assisting its corporate and university clients to make the most of their intellectual property rights. In response to our clients' demands, we also operate as a problem-solving team addressing specific intellectual property rights issues with high responsiveness to current trends in Japan and abroad. We are actively involved in solving problems by legal consultations and expert opinions covering the entire range of intellectual property issues. Our services include representations before the Japan Patent Office (JPO) such as applications, examinations and appeals for patents, utility models, designs, trade marks, etc. We also serve as court litigation attorneys or counsels and handle copyright cases and licensing matters. |

Kuzuwa & Partners is a relatively new mid-sized patent firm which was created in 1995 as successor to the law firm of Takao Minami. We have a staff of 36 (including part-timers), of which 6 are patent attorneys. Together with our predecessor firm, we have accumulated more than 30 years of experience in the field of intellectual property. Kuzuwa & Partners can pride itself on having the size and the qualified staff suited for achieving these objectives.
With 16 fully qualified technical staff, in addition to the 6 patent attorneys, we are well positioned to respond to demands in all technical fields. By holding internal seminars, we actively encourage ourselves the study of intellectual property strategies and the best ways of protecting the intellectual capital of our clients by collecting, on a permanent basis, the latest data on laws and advanced technologies. Our experienced paralegal and administrative staff is capable of following up on all administrative procedures with swiftness and accuracy.
An extensive experience with foreign intellectual property issues is one of our major assets. Our foreign activities have developed very vigorously due to extensive experience with numerous foreign clients, our linguistic competence, and a network of associated law firms that spans almost the entire globe. The collaboration with our foreign correspondents is based on good mutual understanding. |
