The firm of KUZUWA & PARTNERS, which is the successor to
a small but prestigious Japanese patent firm named TAKAO MINAMI,
was established in 1995, and has since then rapidly grown to
include 30 staff members who serve our domestic, foreign, corporate
and university clients.
We are located in the center of Tokyo and specialize in intellectual
property law, covering patents, utility models, trademarks,
designs, competition law, copyright law, licensing matters,
and related litigation. Our nine patent attorneys have expertise
in a wide range of technical fields, e.g., chemistry, biotechnology,
material science, physics, mechanics, electronics, information
technology, and business models, and handle the filing and prosecution
of patent, trademark and design applications before the Japan
Patent Office as well as related infringement and other IP litigation
before the Courts.
In addition to our Japanese patent attorneys, we have a prominent
United States patent attorney, twelve highly-educated and effective
technical staff members, and eight experienced clerical and
paralegal employees, all of whom have a good command of English
and/or some other foreign language, which generates collaborative
and efficient work with excellent internal and external communications.
We often act as intermediaries, using these language skills
for foreign affairs such as foreign application filing and prosecution
in collaboration with associated foreign law firms all over
the world.
